Adult Faculty Concert Choreographers

-April 29-30, 2023 - (Sat. 7 pm and Sun. 4 pm and 7 pm) - The Washington School of Ballet/Coleman Studios, Joseph C. Coleman Studios/Cathedral Commons. TWSB Adult Faculty Concert presenting choreographers Tamas Krizsa, Alvaro Palau, Royce Zackery, Tammy Hurt as well as Miya Hisaka/DC Contemporary Dance Theatre, Shu-Chen Cuff/Gin Dance Company, and Mimmo Miccolis/TWSB’s Professional Training Program. This program is directed and curated by Miya Hisaka, TWSB’s Adult Program Artistic Operations Manager. The Coleman Studio is located at 3308 Wisconsin Ave. NW (2nd floor/#204), Washington, Washington, DC 20016 (Wisconsin between Newark and Macomb Streets NW). Ticket Price: $20/General Admission. Tickets will be available online 6 weeks prior to the event and must be purchased in advance of the event. 

 

2022

-April 29, 2022 - “Dance Freedom Festival 2022”, TDC’s Repertory of Gloria Contreras of Mexico City, “Ofrenda”. Presented by the Nagoya Dance Artists’ Association in Nagoya, Japan at the Chikusa Cultural Theater on March 28, 2021. 9 programs performed between 3 pm and 7 pm.

-Feb. 5-June 11, 2022 (Saturdays, 1:30-3 pm Eastern) – “TDC’s Teen Master Class Virtual Workshop 2022””. Adv. Beg. classes in ballet, modern, contemporary, street jazz and improvisation taught by renown artists: Stuart Loungway, Alvaro Palau, Lilla Seber, Kevin Malone, Gabriel Mata, Maurice Johnson and Miya Hisaka. $250/16 weeks of classes/rehearsals that culminate in a virtual performance on June 11th, 1:30 pm. -Feb. 19-23, 2020 – Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA Exchange: Creating a Link Between East and West Coast Performing Arts: Phase 1.

-Feb. 22, 2020 (Sat. at 7 pm) – East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, 339 11th Street, Richmond, CA 94801. East Bay co-presents a full evening dance performance bringing together East and West Coast arts organizations with shared values, a commitment to diversity, and to the preservation of authenticity in the arts. Ubuntu: For the Whole of All Humanity, aims to bring together diverse ethnic communities with a powerful program including neoclassical, contemporary, indigenous to works with spoken word. A celebration of the history of multicultural arts in the East Coast and its commonalities with the West Coast development. DCCDT/TDC proudly presents some of the Company’s most popular works by ethnic artistic leaders, Lloyd Whitmore, Francisco Castillo, Maurice Johnson and Chandini Darby.

Coleman Studios* “Homenaje a Gloria Contreras”, Commemorative performances in honor of the late Gloria Contreras (Founder/Artistic Director of La Taller Coreografico de Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) at with guest Latin American Arts Critic, Gregorio Luke, and guest dance artist, Fidel Garcia (Cuban virtuoso, former soloist with Dance Theatre of Harlem, El Taller, Washington Ballet). TDC special intensive training program for company members and the creation of two world premieres for TDC’s 2014 Performance Season. All activities held at Joy of Motion Dance Center Studios.

-July 23-July 31, 2013 – Citywide master classes/workshop series at Georgetown University, Centro Nia, Mary Center, among other locations with special Latino Festival guest artists, Francisco Castillo, Jose Luis Guillen (El Salvador), Fidel Garcia (Cuba) and Alvaro Palau (Columbia).

-July 26, 27, 28, 2013*– 3rd Annual Latin American Dance Festival Performances and Fundraiser/Silent Auction along with an Honors Ceremony conducted by the Embassy of El Salvador, GALA’s Tivoli Theatre, WDC.
